NI Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer

National instruments real time spectrum analyzer

Hi I'm Siobhan an engineer with national instrument. In this video we're demonstrating real-time spectrum analysis using px eyes vector signal transceiver flex ryuko processing module and LabVIEW.

Let's take a look at the hardware setup in the hardware setup. I have two px Y vector signal transceiver and a flex your core processing module I'm using a px I vector signal transceiver to generate a wideband stimulus signal which in this case is an FM chip I'm feeding that into the RF in of the other PX I vector signal transceiver which is used for wide band spectrum acquisition using pure declared technology were able to stream data from the PX I vector signal transceiver to the Flex for your core processing module for real-time spectrum analysis now let's take a look at the LabVIEW based example for real-time spectrum analysis

The first thing that you'd like to do is to configure the stimulus signal which in this case is a wideband FM chip now using the RF SG soft front panel i've already configured the settings for an FM chip and it's ready to run as you can see on the hardware the LEDs are blinking which means the stimulus signal is being generated now.

Let's take a look at real-time spectrum analysis here is the LabVIEW based example for real-time spectrum analysis the first thing is to configure the settings for your analyzer and 4 flex reo make sure you've chosen the right device which in this case is a flex trio and a px 558 40 you specify the center frequency the span in this case is 400 megahertz we've made all the settings and we can now run the RDS a example as you can see in the example we were able to capture wideband FM sure you can use the RTS a example to visualize signals in the presence of each other and you can visualize them using persistence or spectrogram krabs you also have full control over configuration settings such as the persistence to change how quickly signals fade and saturation and emphasis you can add furthermore advanced signal processing using the user programmable FPGA is both on the vector signal transceiver and the Flexi or core processing module you can also use the real-time spectrum analysis to capture over-the-air wideband signals by connecting an antenna to your vector signal transceiver so that's how you can achieve real-time spectrum analysis for wideband signals using the power of LabVIEW with PXI vector signal transceiver and flex through your core processing module to learn more about the pxi vector signal transceiver log on to NI comm slash VSD
